Buc Days ‘springs’ back May 5-15

Buc Days returns to its spring roots for weeks of carnivals, live music, rodeo and more

Now fully back to its spring roots, the 84th Buccaneer Days Carnival and Rodeo is underway May 5-15 in downtown Corpus Christi.

Buc Days activities include a carnival for the duration, a rodeo, concerts, two parades, the Dunking of the Mayor, shopping, and other attractions. The schedule is available on the Buc Days website.

The city implemented a traffic plan to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians due to the marked increase in attendance.

Park and ride shuttle services are recommended to alleviate traffic and parking issues. Drivers are asked to follow posted signs and messages. Residents can expect delays as routes leading to the events might be limited or altered.

Participants are encouraged to use the Port Avenue exit to access the Stripes Carnival, the children’s parade, and other events held at the American Bank Center.

Dunking of the Mayor

5:25 p.m. Thursday, May 5

Corpus Christi Marina, North Shoreline Boulevard at Starr Street

A fun, pretend “kidnapping” of Mayor Paulette Guajardo followed by a jump into the marina.

Army/Navy Illuminated Night Parade

8 p.m. Saturday, May 7

Large crowds are expected at the dazzling event with bands, floats, and dancers.

Rodeo Corpus Christi

7 p.m. May 11-14

The energy of bronc riding and barrel racing with concerts by national recording artists.

Marching and floats for the kids from Corpus Christi’s standout schools.

Stripes Carnival

Fun for all with fast and furious rides, a Ferris wheel, carousels, and food and drinks.

Treasure Island

Shopping with nearly 60 vendors and indoor fun for kids.

Through its annual events, the Buccaneer Commission raises money to support education in the Coastal Bend. The commission has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships and grants to date.
