Add Home2 Suites by Hilton to the list of new hotels lining up to serve overnight visitors to Corpus Christi. Home2 Suites, which last year purchased 4.8 acres next to La Palmera mall, recently announced plans to build an extended-stay hotel on the property.

Home2 Suites offers free breakfast, extended-stay perks such as a patio with grills, a business center, a saline swimming pool, outdoor lounge areas, and a 24/7 market for toiletries, snacks, and frozen meals. All Home2 Suites are pet- and eco-friendly. Doors to the spacious suites can be locked and unlocked with a smartphone app.

The Hilton property is just the latest extended-stay motel opening in the Coastal Bend. Motel 6/Suite 6 opened this month on South Padre Island Drive at Williams. A Residence Inn at 209 S. Shoreline Blvd. in downtown Corpus Christi is due to open this summer.

The Marriott hotel chain, which owns Residence Inn, is also opening a Fairfield Inn and Suites at South Padre Island Drive and Old Brownsville Road this summer.
