Corpus Christi’s Braselton Homes Sells to National Company
The largest homebuilder in Corpus Christi has sold to the largest homebuilder in the nation. Braselton Homes was purchased by D.R. Horton Inc. for about $23 million. The bigger company announced plans to operate Braselton as a separate division and retain Braselton’s staff.
“We are pleased to have Braselton Homes, their local management and employees join the D.R. Horton family,” said Donald R. Horton, the company’s board chairman. “Their experienced, dedicated team and well-established building operations make Braselton a great addition as we continue to expand our footprint across Texas.”
D.R. Horton began operations in 1978 in Fort Worth. It is now in 88 markets in 29 states.
Braselton has also been in the business for a long time.
“For over 70 years and three generations, the Braselton family has been building in the Corpus Christi Bay area,” said company President Fred Braselton. “We are excited to join the largest homebuilder in the country and continue to provide quality homes to families in the Coastal Bend.”
Currently, Braselton is building 600 homes priced at about $350,000 each in the London Towne Subdivision. Last year’s revenue came it at about $56 million.
Since 2002, D.R. Horton, which bills itself as "America’s Builder," has been the largest homebuilder by volume in the United States. Other divisions within the company include Emerald Homes, Express Homes, and Freedom Homes.
