Meet New Director at Art Museum of South Texas
The public is invited to a reception to meet the new art director of the Art Museum of South Texas. Actually, you might want to come and just say howdy and congratulations as many already know finalist Sara Morgan, who has served as interim director since June.
“While we know that Sara Morgan is not a stranger to any of you, we would like to give you the opportunity to come to a meet and greet reception for her as our sole finalist,” reads the invitation from the search committee. "Ask her any questions you may have about the role of Director at the Art Museum and how she plans to fill it.”
The reception is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, at the Art Museum, 1902 N. Shoreline Blvd. The event is free and open to the public.
Morgan served as assistant director at the museum for a little over six years. She was appointed interim when longtime director Joe Schenk retired this year after 12 years in the position.
Before coming to the museum, Morgan worked four years as stewardship coordinator at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She has a post graduate certificate in museum leadership from the Getty Leadership Institute and a bachelor’s degree in art history, criticism and conservation from the University of California Santa Barbara.
The search committee reviewed 28 applicants for the position.
